The well-attended talk featured Helen Chananie, Project Associate at Building Energy Exchange; Anthony Malkin, Chairman and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust, Inc.; Dana Robbins Schneider, Managing Director at Jones Lang LaSalle; and Daniel A. Zarrilli, PE, Senior Director of Climate Policy & Programs and Chief Resilience Officer in the New York Office of the Mayor. Marjorie Tsang, a Visiting Scholar at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, moderated the informative panel of experts.

WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate (WX) is pleased to announce that it hosted a discussion between Dan Doctoroff, former Deputy Mayor for Economic Development for the City of New York and CEO, President of Bloomberg L.P, and currently the founder and CEO of Sidewalk Labs and Sharon Greenberger, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater New York. During the talk, Greenberger interviewed Doctoroff about his new book Greater than Ever: New York’s Big Comeback, which tells a story of New York City’s remarkable economic recovery following the attacks of September 11, 2001. 124 people attended the breakfast meeting at The Harvard Club.

Queen was held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at The Pierre in New York City. The gala raised over $600,000 in support of the WX Scholarship Program, in a record-breaking fundraising year for the organization.

The WX panel of experts included: Paul Hastings, Partner, Real Estate Department, Nathalia Bernardo; Deutsche Asset Management, Director in Transactions, David W. Hamm; Arris Properties Group, Chief Investment Officer, Stephen Muller; and Ackman-Ziff, Managing Director, Marion Jones as moderator. The speakers addressed the investment trends and challenges of deploying off-shore capital in today’s market, changes in the regulatory environment, and how the new geopolitical landscape impacts foreign investment.
WX is excited to announce the WX Scholars Program recipients for the 2016-2017 program year. This year, the WX Charitable Fund is making a total of 23 awards, comprising seven merit awards and 16 financial scholarships, totaling $124,500. The WX Scholars Program encourages and supports bright and talented young women pursuing challenging careers in real estate and related professions in the New York metropolitan area. The awards, which are based on merit and financial need, are given to women graduating from undergraduate or graduate degree programs and entering the real estate industry in New York City. Among the many benefits of the program, the Scholars are invited to participate in the WX Mentoring Program for two years, which provides educational programming and networking opportunities to the women as they launch their careers. Since the program was launched in 2004, scholarships have been awarded to over 200 women at 14 schools, totaling approximately $1 million dollars.
